Selective automated driving as a pivotal element to solve safety and environmental issues in personal mobility
Two topics rule the discussion about individual traffic: Environment and safety. The European project “Highly Automated Vehicles for Intelligent Transport", HAVEit, offers a substantial improvement on both issues: Selective automated driving. According to the driving situation and driver's preferences the degree of automation will be increased and decreased ensuring that the driver is always aware of the driving situation and ready to take back command. The objective is to develop and implement perception models, control concepts, and architectures for a driver centric automated driving usable in mixed mode traffic. The paper will show the first steps and achievements of HAVEit.
